California Pacific Coast Highway Secrets
California Travel Hwy 1, have you been there?
Here is a little taste of what you will see when you drive this magnificent highway
California Highway 1 hugs the scenic Pacific coast from south of Los Angeles to about 200 miles north of San Francisco.
This has to be one of the prettiest places I have seen in the world so far, my husband and I drove it with our kids and stop to see the waterfalls cascading and the elephant seals on their birthing beaches
The Pacific Coast Highway has been featured by National Geographic as one of the worlds greatest driving tours
It is a twisting cliff hugging 123 mile route along the central California coast that takes about five hours to complete at a leisurely pace it is among the nations most scenic Highway’s. The route starts in historic Monterey and threads through the mountains that plunge into the Pacific
There are many beach towns along the way and the interesting thing is the drive through the mountains also features little mountain towns, and when you get into the hills the wine vineyards and their many states. There are over 250 species of birds and mammals including the Blacktail deer gray foxes sea otters and see lions
You can also see migrating gray whales pass from December through April of each year
We went through the Pacific Coast Highway in January just in time to stop and see all the elephant seals birthing their calves and relaxing on the beaches
We stopped along one of the scenic pull off’s and walk down to the beach for a picnic views were just amazing
I would definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking for amazing natural beauty here in the USA, I plan to be back there soon to spend more time exploring the area.
Dream… Plan… Accomplish and Hit the Road 🙂
