Fort Myers is also had two of the nation’s most famous inventors and business leaders homestead here certain parts of the years in their winter estates. Back in 1916 Henry Ford bought land in downtown Fort Myers next-door to Thomas Edison… his mentor.
Both the estates now serve as a museums to honor these two men and remind us of what they overcame and accomplished. When you near the entrance of the Edison and Ford winter states on the west side you will see the first banyan trees planted in the United States by Thomas Edison
