Stress- How to knock it out
If you are sure how to deal with stress, you can stop it. As it is with anything in life, by getting a full understanding of it and knowing the proper ways to limit it, you will not allow it to control your life. The following paragraphs will provide you with a bit of insight on how you can improve your health by reducing stress.
Use your nose to become stress-free. Certain things can be soothing when you smell them. You can smell chamomile, lavender, peppermint and rose to soothe your senses for example. Put rock salt in a vial with a few drops of your favorite oil. Take the lid off the vial and inhale deeply whenever your stress level begins to rise.
Try and figure out how you are currently dealing with stress, so that you can see whether or not there are ways to improve. Keep a stress diary for a few weeks and write down how you handle different types of stressful events. Examine how you respond to the stressful situation and find out how you can deal with it. If the response was not healthy, you might want to try implementing a new coping strategy or two.
While hobbies, such as video games, are usually very relaxing, if you see yourself getting frustrated then walk away and take a break. The point of playing a game is to lower your stress level and feel relaxed, not replace the stress with frustration.
Daydreaming is not just for kids! Find the time to close your eyes and relax. Visualize yourself in an exotic location and let your mind wander into the possibilities. This mental exercise works wonders to relieving the brain of unnecessary stress, and allows it to cope.
Your body cannot properly function without sleep. You cannot properly handle any stress and you will not think as clear as you normally would. Get a full night’s sleep so that you are alert during the day and, so your body is at its full potential.
A smile is an instantaneous way to relieve some stress. Just consider, it is nearly impossible to be sad when you are smiling and look happy on the outside. There are nerves in your face that transmit impulses to your central nervous system when you smile. This automatically triggers a calming response, resulting in an instantaneous reduction of stress and anxiety levels.
You have to say no at times. Continuously agreeing to accommodate everyone else’s wishes leaves no time for yourself. That is an overload of stress that no one person can absorb. Work to differentiate between when you’re able to take on a responsibility, and when it is better to just say “no.” There’s no shame or guilt in protecting yourself.
Many people who have to deal with a large amount of stress use drugs including alcohol, tobacco, and cocaine to try and get rid of the stress. But these habits only make stress worse and cause other concerns related to health and well being. It is better to eliminate stress using natural methods, and steer clear of alcohol and tobacco products.
As it was mentioned in the top of this article, effective stress reduction starts with good education. You are more able to manage your stress when you have figured out a few helpful techniques.
